Consumer Portal

Cognitive Solutions Consumer Portal allows retailers and end-consumers to validate the authenticity of products (both pre-sales and post sales), to register ownership of products, and to optionally maintain an inventory of products owned (e.g., for collectable and/or high value, durable products). These provide the ability to communicate effectively with concerned consumers (e.g., distribution of product safety alerts, product news, sales offers, etc.) who continually become more confident, brand loyal purchasers. The Cognitive Solutions Consumer Portal can also collect market data such as consumer buying preferences, product value in resale markets, etc. It can be included as part of MATR®, or used separately, provided that product marking is also implemented.

Consumer Portal relies on marks that include item unique registration numbers as well as single use numbered keys to support product registration and transfer of ownership between consumers. The marks used are proprietary, tamper resistant and unique to each customer that are not reproducible (e.g., holographic) and include unique registration numbers. Consumers are assured of product authenticity first by seeing the logo’d, unique and non-reproducible mark that they can verify by using Internet enabled computers and mobile devices to enter the registration number into a web site (part of the Consumer Portal product) that validates that the registration number is authentic. It can also be used to assure product brand integrity for collectable items that are regularly sold or traded, including a searchable product database.
