Organizational Change Management

Many IT projects fail, not because of the solution itself, but because of the failure to position and communicate change throughout the organization. The affected parties do not see why they should have to alter their comfortable and accustomed method of doing things. Not only is it important to develop the solution to meet the business needs, but it is also important to understand why the new solution and proposed change is important to the organization; how it aligns with the overall corporate objectives to ensure user adoption; and the realization of the business case at the project level as well as the impact to the overall corporate business plan. This understanding and resulting adoption comes through effective execution of Organizational Change Management.

Successful organizational change management requires the staged planning and implementation of direction, socialization, adoption, stewardship, ownership, measurement, and improvement. Successful cultural change is a combination of understanding the client’s mission and unique personalities in context with the peer and senior guidance from corporate stakeholders and leadership. Communications plans provide the “what” vehicle by organizational and mission objects, while the adoption and enablement plans provide the “how” to the employees and line managers within the local, regional, and global environment.

Cognitive Solutions employs traditional triggers and organizational insights to develop and support communications plans for leaders and enablers at all levels through the capture of the vision, commitment, and goals for the organization. We then identify and link the strategy that can accomplish supporting these objectives. The vision and techniques will help develop an approach that can be adopted and implemented by a variety of belief systems and thought constructs to promote understanding and ownership.

We use a combination of individual and organizational change methodologies to affect the transition into a repetitive measurable state. Cognitive Solutions develops curriculum and web enabled technologies to help socialize why the change is needed and why it is important to the organization. We develop and guide stakeholders through a process to identify, document, and create a roadmap of how to affect the change in their areas of responsibility and at the individual levels within the operational departments with tangible, measurable adoption and value. Cognitive Solutions will develop talking points for managers and senior executives to discuss and lead the region and the company in bolstering support and maintaining confidence and commitment to the new environment. We then conduct reviews to foster participation and generate support for the change at all levels of the organization as well as lead and participate in similar activities with local, regional, and global stakeholders.
